The radiator is the main equipment of this system. It ensures better engine efficiency and longer component life. The present work makes the calculations pertinent to the design of a radiator and analyzes the influence of some geometric parameters (number of fins, tube height, number of tubes and thickness of fins) in the performance of the equipment. All calculations were performed in Microsoft Office Excel software, where the input data were the geometric parameters and the results that demonstrate the radiator performance were global coefficient of heat transfer, number and transfer units (NTU), surface efficiency of the fin, effectiveness and heat transfer rate. The work is a bibliographical review and a case study. The initial geometric and operational data were taken from a case study. The radiator in question needs to be removed from the engine to the 23kW environment. After the basic calculations of the equipment, the efficiency of the equipment, which withdraws 38.45kW, has been proven. Then, geometric parameters were varied and the influence on the final performance of the radiator was analyzed. It can be seen that the increase in the number of fins and thickness of the fins influence positively, the increase in the heat transfer rate is 61% and 9%, respectively. Since the height of the tubes and the number of tubes influence negatively, the decrease is 22% and 3%, respectively. It is concluded with the work that the increase in the number of fins is the most influential geometric parameter. With it happens an increase of the area of thermal exchange in the outside and an increase of the turbulence of the external flow. The two changes beneficial to the best performance of the radiator.
